chair twist        Two Minute Chair Twist 

  • While sitting (especially if your at your desk) place both feet flat on the floor.
  • Inhale deeply and lift up with your torso.
  • Exhale and turn to the side.
  • Place your hands on the back of the chair (or arm of chair depending on the shape and size of your chair.)
  • Again, inhale and lift up through your body.
  • On your exhalation turn your torso using your hands to revolve deeper. 
  • Come back to the center and repeat in the other direction.
  • Repeat again completing both sides twice.

Note:  Keep your chin in line with the center of your chest as you turn to avoid cranking your neck.  Also, keep both "sit bones" evenly pressing into the chair as you turn to avoid leaning to one side. 

Benefits:  This chair twist will release tension through your spinal muscles, reducing headaches, neck pain, and upper and lower back pains.   It will energize your body and focus your mind.  Twists are also great for detoxifying the organs which supports your immune system.
